Camphorwood Blanket Box
This claw-footed camphorwood blanket box was a client’s own commission, and came into the studio almost black in colour. After sanding back years of heavy lacquer, the stunning original wood was revealed, before this quadruple-layered bespoke stencil was created to fit the exact dimensions of both the top and side panels. After transforming the exterior using several custom-blended colours, the stencil was carefully applied in 4 different shades, before the whole piece was given contrasting trims and legs, with the claw-feet picked out in gold.
