Victorian Sewing Box

This little Victorian sewing box was a client’s own commission, a much-loved heirloom in need of some TLC.

After fully dismantling every hinge and drawer, the faded and stained silk insides were stripped out, before fresh new linings were added. The two complimentary colours of cobalt blue and teal were carefully applied to achieve crisp borders, and each drawer was lined with fun contrasting rainforest-inspired wallpaper. The two “lids” were carefully sanded back to reveal the most beautiful walnut veneer, which was celebrated with this custom-taped geometric design. Each hinge and screw was carefully gilded before painstaking reassembly.
