Solid Mahogany Sideboard
This solid mahogany sideboard was a client’s own commission, part of a full original dining set inherited from her beloved grandmother and imported piece by piece from the USA.
Paying homage to both its Deco-era heritage and new Scottish home, an ambitious interlocking Celtic-inspired custom-taped design was created and applied across the freshly sanded door and drawer fronts. Each and every line was then edged in gold.
The full top surface was also sanded back to preserve as much original wood as possible, before a separate circular focal point design was carefully executed, with the whole area bordered then pinstriped in gold. Inside, contrasting Deco-inspired hummingbird paper features bespoke bee stencilling to pay tribute to my client’s grandmother, nicknamed “Bea”.
